How Ice Cooling Works
The handpiece contains a sapphire crystal window that makes direct contact with the skin. A TEC (thermoelectric cooler) actively pumps heat away from the sapphire, maintaining a surface temperature of -5°C to +5°C — adjustable based on treatment area and patient sensitivity.
As the 808nm laser pulse penetrates the dermis to target hair follicles, the cooled sapphire keeps the epidermis comfortable. This pre-cooling numbs the skin surface before each pulse, eliminating the “rubber band snap” sensation associated with traditional lasers.
4-Stage Hybrid Cooling System
- Sapphire Crystal Contact — -5°C direct skin cooling
- TEC Semiconductor — Active heat pumping
- Water Circulation — Continuous heat dissipation
- Forced Air + Radiator — Final stage exhaust
Benefits of Ice Cooling
Painless Treatments
Patients feel only a gentle warmth — no snapping, no burning sensation. The difference is so significant that many patients who previously avoided laser due to pain become regular clients.
No Consumables
Unlike cryogen spray systems (which cost $200–400/month in canisters), the sapphire TEC system has zero ongoing costs. The sapphire crystal lasts the lifetime of the machine.
Higher Energy Tolerance
Because the epidermis is cooled, you can safely deliver higher fluence per pulse. Higher energy = fewer sessions needed and better results on stubborn hair.
Faster Recovery
The cooling reduces post-treatment erythema (redness) and swelling. Patients leave with calm skin, not the angry red reaction common with uncooled lasers.
Higher Client Retention
Comfortable treatments mean higher satisfaction, better reviews, and more repeat bookings. Ice cooling pays for itself through increased client loyalty.
No Numbing Cream
Eliminate the cost, time, and mess of topical anesthetics. Treatments are faster (no waiting for cream to work) and cleaner (no residue on the handpiece).
