Can I replace a handpiece myself, or do I need a technician?
Handpiece replacement is straightforward — disconnect the old one, connect the new one, calibrate via the touch screen menu. Takes 5-10 minutes. No special tools needed. We include step-by-step video instructions. For bar stack replacement inside the handpiece, that requires opening the handpiece housing — we recommend our video-guided process (30-45 minutes) for anyone comfortable with basic tools. If you prefer, we can walk you through it via video call.
How long do laser bars and handpieces typically last?
Coherent bars: 20 million shots — roughly 8-12 years at moderate volume.
Premium Chinese bars: 10 million shots — roughly 4-6 years.
Handpieces: The handpiece body lasts indefinitely. The internal bar stack is the consumable. Sapphire windows should be inspected annually and replaced if scratched (affects cooling efficiency).
Safety glasses: Replace every 2 years or if scratched — coating degradation reduces OD rating.
