A real manufacturer sends you the FDA 510(k) clearance letter, CE certificate with Notified Body number, ISO 13485 certificate, and IEC 60601 test reports — as PDFs, within hours. A trader says “we have all certifications” but cannot produce the documents.
- They offer prices 50%+ below market. A 1200W 808nm diode machine with sapphire cooling costs roughly $2,000-3,000 to manufacture with genuine components. If someone offers you the same machine for $900, the diode bar is a reject, the cooling system is underbuilt, or the certifications are fake. The money you save disappears the first time the machine fails mid-treatment.
- They sell everything. A factory that makes 50 types of machines — laser, IPL, cavitation, RF, cryo, LED — is almost certainly a trading company sourcing from multiple factories. Real manufacturers specialize in a few product lines where they have genuine engineering expertise.
- No video call with the factory floor. Ask for a 5-minute WhatsApp video call walking through the production line. A real manufacturer does this readily. A trader makes excuses about “confidential technology” or “factory policy.”
- Alibaba Gold Supplier badge without independent verification. Alibaba’s Gold Supplier status is paid, not earned. It verifies that the company exists — not that it manufactures anything or that its certifications are real.
