Common Diode Laser Problems and How to Fix Them
Even the best diode laser machines can develop issues over time. Here are the most common problems, their likely causes, and how to resolve them quickly.
Problem: Machine Won t Turn On
- Check power cable and wall outlet — surprisingly common!
- Verify the emergency stop button is not engaged
- Check internal fuses (refer to manual for locations)
- Power supply failure — contact support for replacement
Problem: No Laser Output
- Foot pedal connection loose or damaged
- Interlock system engaged (door sensor, water flow)
- Handpiece connector not fully seated
- Laser bar reached end of life — needs replacement
Problem: Weak or Inconsistent Output
- Dirty or scratched sapphire crystal — clean or replace
- Laser bar degradation — measure output with a power meter
- Cooling system not maintaining temperature — check water level and pump
Problem: Overheating
- Low coolant water level — refill with distilled water
- Clogged radiator or filters — clean or replace
- Water pump failure — contact support
- Ambient room temperature too high — improve ventilation
